Liverpool edge out stoke in a highly competitive match and got their 2013-14 Premier League season off to a dramatic but successful start as they defeated Stoke City 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Daniel Sturridge.

The Reds dominated the Potters for the vast majority of the match and would likely have had a huge lead in hand were it not for some incredible saves made by Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
